How to make your own routine
Your routines lets you save sessions with your own timings: how long to squeeze, hold and relax, and how many rounds. Then start one like any other session. Your first routine is free. With Steady Pro, you can save up to 10. Your routines are saved on this phone only.
Open Your routines
On the home screen, scroll to Other sessions and tap Your routines, after Relax set. It says Your own timings until you save one, then how many you've saved, for example 3 saved.
Make a routine
- In Your routines, tap New routine.
- Type a Name, up to 24 characters.
- Set Squeeze, Hold and Relax in seconds, and the number of Rounds. Tap − or +, or type a number. Each field shows what it takes:
- Squeeze: 1 to 10 seconds
- Hold: 0 to 15 seconds (0 = no hold)
- Relax: 1 to 20 seconds
- Rounds: 1 to 30 rounds
- Check Total length at the bottom, for example "Total length: about 1 min 28 s".
- Tap Save. The new routine appears at the top of the list.
A new routine "Starts from the Beginner timings": Squeeze 3 s, Hold 3 s, Relax 5 s and 8 rounds. Change any of them before you save. They're only a place to begin.
If a number is outside its range, the field says what it takes, for example "Use 1 to 10 seconds", and Total length waits until every value is in range. Steady doesn't comment on the timings you choose. Any values within the ranges are fine to save.
With a hold of 0, the routine goes straight from Squeeze to Relax.
Start a routine
Tap Start on a routine's card. The usual session screen opens, with the routine's name at the top. The cues, pocket mode and voice cues work as they do for any session. When the session ends, you're back in Your routines.
The list keeps the routine you used last at the top.
A finished routine session counts like any other: in your streak, Sessions, all time, Minutes, all time and the calendar in History. It doesn't count as a Steady 28 day. See How does my streak work?
Edit or delete a routine
- Edit: tap Edit on the card, change the name or the numbers, and tap Save. Tap Cancel to leave without changes.
- Delete: tap Delete on the card. Steady asks "Delete" and the routine's name: "The routine is removed from this list. Sessions you already did stay in History." Tap Delete to confirm or Cancel to keep it.
You can save up to 10 routines. When you have 10, the list says "10 routines saved, the most this app keeps. Delete one to add another."
Routines and Steady Pro
Without Pro, you can make, start, edit and delete one routine. It's free, with no trial and no time limit. The list says "1 routine is free: the first one you save. Up to 10 with Steady Pro." with See Pro.
- To save a second routine, you need Steady Pro. Tapping New routine when you already have one shows "Try a session first" if you haven't finished a session yet. After your first finished session, it opens the Steady Pro screen. See How to subscribe, cancel or restore Steady Pro.
- With Pro, you can save up to 10 routines and start any of them.
If your Pro ends, nothing is deleted. All your routines stay in the list, and you can still edit or delete any of them. The routine you saved first still starts, as your free one. The others show a lock and Pro: tapping Start on one opens the Steady Pro screen. Editing a routine doesn't change which one is free. When Pro is back, they all start again as before.
If you delete the routine you saved first, the next oldest becomes your free one.
Where routines are kept
Your routines, with their names, are stored only on this phone, like your training history. They're never uploaded, they don't appear in the widget or in notifications, and they're excluded from Android cloud backup. Clearing Steady's storage or uninstalling deletes them. See Where is my Steady data kept?
Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when I tap Save
One of the fields is outside its range, or the name is empty. The field that needs a change says what it takes, for example "Use 1 to 30 rounds" or "Use 1 to 24 characters".
I deleted a routine. Are its sessions gone?
No. Deleting a routine removes it from the list only. The sessions you did with it stay in your streak, your totals and the calendar.
Can I share a routine or move it to another phone?
You can't share a single routine. To move your routines to another phone, save a backup: tap Settings, then Save a backup under Your data. On the other phone, tap Restore from a backup and choose the file. The backup holds your routines and your sessions. A phone keeps up to 10 routines, and without Steady Pro the first one on the phone is the free one. Restoring Steady Pro brings back Pro, not your routines. See How to export, back up and restore your Steady data.
