How does my streak work?

Updated 2026-10-17

Your streak is the number of days in a row on which you finished at least one session. The home screen shows it in one line, for example 3 days in a row · done today. If you train on some days of the week rather than every day, you can count your streak in weeks instead, or hide it: see Choose how your streak counts below. Tap History at the top of the home screen to see your totals and a calendar.

How the streak counts

  • A day counts when you finish at least one session, of any plan or any Steady 28 day: the session counts as soon as its last round ends. Extra sessions on the same day still count as one day.
  • A Steady 28 day counts like any other session, in your streak, the totals and the calendar. Repeating a day counts as another session. See How does Steady 28 work?
  • A session from Your routines counts like any other session, in your streak, the totals and the calendar. It doesn't count as a Steady 28 day. See How to make your own routine.
  • The practice in How to do it isn't recorded, so it doesn't count towards your streak or History.
  • The streak line ends with done today once today counts, and not yet today until then. Before your first session, it says No sessions yet.
  • The home-screen widget shows the same streak, for example 3 days in a row, or Start today when it's 0. See How to add the Steady widget to your home screen.
  • If you trained yesterday but not yet today, your streak still shows. If a whole day passes without a finished session, it goes back to 0 and starts again with your next finished session.

This is the Every day rule, the one Steady starts with.

Choose how your streak counts

In Settings, under Goal and streak, choose one of three Streak rules. All three are free, and you can change your mind at any time.

  • Every day: "Days in a row with a session", as above. This is where Steady starts.
  • Days per week: Steady asks "How many days with a session keep a week in the streak? Weeks run Monday to Sunday." Nothing is chosen for you: pick from 1 day to 7 days and tap Done. Each week from Monday to Sunday with at least that many days with a session counts as one week of your streak. The home screen and the widget then show weeks, for example 3 weeks in a row. This week adds one as soon as it has your number of days. Until then, it doesn't end your streak while you can still reach your number by Sunday; once there aren't enough days left, the streak goes back to 0. To change the number, tap Days per week again.
  • Hide streak: "No streak on Home, the widget or History. The calendar stays." Without a daily goal, the home screen says Done today or Not yet today instead.

Your streak is worked out from your finished sessions each time it's shown, so a new rule or a new number applies straight away, to past weeks too. Nothing is deleted when you change the rule or hide the streak: switch back and it shows again. Steady shows the count only. There's no score and no warning about losing a streak.

See your history

  1. On the home screen, tap History (the calendar icon at the top).

  2. At the top you see four tiles, each with a number:

    • Current streak: the same number as on the home screen, for example 3 days, or 3 weeks with the Days per week rule.
    • Longest streak: your longest run so far.
    • Sessions, all time: every session you've finished on this phone.
    • Minutes, all time: the total length of those sessions, in whole minutes.

The all-time totals never reset: they count every session recorded on this phone. With Hide streak, History doesn't show the streak.

  3. Under Calendar, you see this month. Each day with at least one session has a check mark, and today has an orange outline. Use the arrows (Previous month, Next month) to move between months, back to the month of your first session.

  4. Tap the back arrow at the top to return to the home screen.

Before your first session, History shows No sessions yet and an empty calendar for this month.

With TalkBack on, each day of the calendar reads its date and how many sessions it has, for example "3 sessions" or "no session".

History shows counts only. It doesn't rate or judge your training.

Troubleshooting

My streak went back to 0

With Every day, at least one whole day passed without a finished session. With Days per week, there weren't enough days left this week to reach your number, or an earlier week, Monday to Sunday, ended with fewer days with a session than your number. The streak starts again from your next finished session. Your Longest streak, your totals and the marks on the calendar stay.

If you'd rather count your training by the week, or not see a streak at all, change the rule in Settings, under Goal and streak.

A session I did isn't in my history

Only finished sessions are recorded: the last round has to end. A session that ends early, for example because you tapped End session, pressed Back or a call came in, isn't recorded. See How to use pocket mode for sessions with the screen off.

I did a practice and it isn't in my history

That's expected: the 3 practice squeezes in How to do it are never added to your history. See How to do it: the squeeze, step by step.

I deleted a routine. Did its sessions disappear?

No. Deleting a routine removes it from Your routines only. The sessions you did with it stay in your streak, your totals and the calendar.

Can I delete one session or edit my streak?

Not in version 0.1.0. You can only delete all of Steady's data at once. See How to delete your Steady data.
